What a year 2019 turned out to be for Weave! We went from strength to strength this past year and it all started early when we acquired our second property in Hong Kong in February which went on to become Weave on Baker, our exciting new location in Hung Hom which welcomed the community in November. We officially had more than a proof of concept for our vision of co-living and doubled our portfolio.
It wasn’t just the Weave community that multiplied this year, our team also grew through the year and in June we couldn’t physically fit in our first office space and moved to our new home in Central. As I look back to our first day as a company in July 2017, I can’t believe we set out on such an enormous mission to be the best co-living company in Asia Pacific with only 4 of us. We are now a family of 40 and expanding! It’s nice to be on the same floor with all our colleagues in a building with a calming view over Tai Kwun (because we know how hectic it can get to be awesome – you only see our heads smiling above water, not all the frantic paddling that goes on behind the scenes to bring hassle-free city living to a place near you).
We celebrated an important milestone in August, as Weave on Boundary, our first property turned 1. To see the community come to life, thriving in their home has been such a rewarding experience for everyone. I am grateful to the residents for giving us constructive feedback throughout their time at Weave and for being such amazing ambassadors for the brand as they go upwards and onward in life.
Hong Kong will always be a place dear to Weave and we’ve put down roots here with our current buildings and scheduled openings – in 2020 we will bring at least 2 more fantastic new locations to the city including our first property on HK Island on Queens Road West in Sai Ying Pun as well as a bigger and better scheme in Kowloon near ICC.
While we bring more beds to Hong Kong, we also realize that our residents, as global citizens, are eager to expand their geographical footprints. So in keeping pace with them and by popular demand we will be expanding throughout Asia Pacific in 2020! Where will we go first? Australia? Singapore? Korea? All 3? Time will tell! Come back to read more in the new year. We hope to start it with a big bang!
As we head into the holidays, I would like to take a moment to thank our team, our partners and most importantly our resident community for making Weave such an exciting journey to be a part of. It wouldn’t be half as fun without your love, enthusiasm and energy.
Stay happy and well fed this festive season.
