It’s that time of year again! Although we’re celebrating a familiar holiday, the way we celebrate it might need a slight adjustment. That being said, there’s still plenty of ways to have a good time…

To show you how to enjoy your one and only 2020 Christmas, we’ve put together a little list of things to do. Read on to find out what they are and how you can enjoy a COVID-safe holiday!

1. Staycation, Staycation, Staycation!

Think about it, why stay home when you can still have a getaway to enjoy some TLC? All you did was skip the flight (which was the most annoying part anyway…) and check straight into the hotel! You can enjoy the same delicious breakfasts, marvel at a stunning view while also being pampered, relaxing how you want.

2. Bring Sourdough Back

In case you missed the trend earlier this year either because you were too busy or had no time, why not try your hand at sourdough again? Impress your household at Christmas with a freshly baked loaf of bread and marvel at your new gained skills! It’s not only an instagrammable moment to share and boast to your friends but also a delicious project to try.

3. Discover Hong Kong

This was the first year we were fortunate enough to see and do more around this beautiful city. Although we had almost a full year to explore and discover everything Hong Kong has to offer, what we found out instead is that we still have a long way to go. Hiking with the monkeys, Hong Kong’s Geopark, taking the ferry from Stanley to Po Toi, exploring the wetlands and discovering all the cultures and faces that the concrete jungle has to offer is just a start.

4. Hong Kong Movie-thon

While we’re at it re-discovering Hong Kong, it’s worthwhile to also get into a little Hong Kong cinema! There are some gems out there by illustrious Hong Kong actors and directors, the colder weather is a great excuse to sit tight and watch some Hong Kong culture. Pick from contemporary, avant-garde movies directed by Wong Kar-wai such as In the Mood for LoveFallen AngelsChungking Express and 2046. Otherwise go for something ‘mo lei tau’ (nonsensical) from Stephen Chow…relive the glory from Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle, or discover new favourites like Fight Back to School or From Beijing with Love.

5. Art Therapy to Soothe the Soul

There’s plenty of art to admire in galleries around Hong Kong that suite all tastes and needs with plenty of interesting exhibitions reflecting on the year 2020. Visit New Solitude at Over The Influence for a tongue in cheek reflection of the year 2020 and all its milestones (or lack thereof).

Art is a mirror of life and so as we reflect on the year it has been and contemplate what a year it’s going to be…Joan Cornellà’s sold out exhibition is the perfect summary of 2020. Aptly named, My Life is Pointless can be viewed online from the Sotheby’s website from the comfort of your home.

Happy holidays from the Weave Team and see you next year!
